Gauge gravity (PRETALK for students at 15:30)
In an introductory review of the gauge approach to the theory of gravitation, the following points will be clarified. 1) Einstein field equations can be obtained from a simple gauge theory of translation. 2) Localising also the Lorentz invariance, one can describe spacetime geometry interchangeably in terms of torsion or curvature. 3) If the underlying group is de Sitter, an invariant length is incorporated in addition to the invariant velocity. 4) The gauge field for rescalings may eventually be the photon as then 5) the conformal dual of translation suggests a geometrisation of the charge.
