Stochastic Quantisation and Infrared QCDProf. Dr. Jan Martin Pawlowski Stochastic quantisation is a viable alternative to standard Monte Carlo simulations in lattice gauge theories. In combination with a gauge fixing drift force it can be used to circumvent numerical problems occurring with standard gauge fixing procedures on the lattice. It also may open a way towards non-equilibrium dynamics in gauge theories. In this project the stochastic quantisation of lattice gauge theories is used for the computation of correlation functions in Yang-Mills theories, in particular their infrared behaviour. This gives access to the confinement mechanism, and provides an independent check for results achieved with continuum and lattice methods in gauge fixed settings.
